Job Description:
Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. Quality Engineer This position is
located in Mayodan, NC We are in search of a Quality Engineer with
5+ years' experience to work in our Mayodan, NC location. As an
instrumental member of our team, a Quality Engineer is expected to
work collaboratively with leadership, operations, employees, and
other functional areas, to promote a productive and amicable work
environment. This position is hands on and the right candidate will
spend the majority of their day on the factory floor, and must be
able to meet business needs. This individual must also be able to

Innovation and Teamwork. Summary: Ruger is seeking a CMM Engineer
for its Mayodan, NC facility supporting all existing and new
program requirements. This position will provide primary
programming and inspection, CMM training and GD&T guidance. The
scope of the position will support; product evaluation,
containment, and development of gaging methods for complex gaging
situations. In addition, the role will include responsibilities for
supporting Mayodan PPAP activity, updates and modifications to
existing parts, processes and new programs. Anyone with a
significant amount of experience would take on a mentoring role,
with the ideal candidate having to possess a higher level of
knowledge and experience, and must be able to mentor both
efficiently and effectively less experienced engineers to meet the
current business needs. Our company's manufacturing philosophy is
integrated CNC single piece flow value streams, much like the
automotive manufacturing industry. Work is performed in a machining
and assembly plant environment, where a considerable amount of
creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of
independent judgment. Essential Job Functions Primary Lead for the
development and oversight of all things CMM (Hexagon, AMES,
Equator) and secondarily support Smart Scope (Keyence IM & VR)
Programs for point of use inspection throughout the Operations
Assist Product and Manufacturing Engineering with inspection
results to drive short and long term capability in processes - help
resolve critical issues (prevent line down events) Perform complete
inspection of manufactured or supplier purchased parts as required
for all critical dimensions and characteristics Lead and establish
a training program to grow New Programmers across all Value Streams
Provide Key GDT support and guidance across the Operations and
Engineering Drive containment actions and seek management
disposition of material not meeting design intent or function
Develop and Establish data analysis tools for all CMM's and
Equators utilizing DataPage+, QDos, Minitab and Excel Establish
core requirements for maintaining all CMM's across Ruger (SMA,
Calibration, Maintenance) to minimize internal and external cost
(Corporate Oversight) Establish and maintain spare parts and needs
across the plant for all CMM based Metrology Equipment. Ideal
Candidate Profile Knowledge of quality systems and gauging methods
utilizing GD&T to assure gage control mimics design
expectations through fundamental work holding and processing to
create a smooth transition from Raw to Final product Delivers a
strong organizational and problem solving/analysis skills (5 why /
8D / 6-Sigma) Communication proficiency with all levels of the
organization Ability to gather and analyze measurement data and
report to management Must demonstrate technical capacity,
thoroughness, and good time management skills Ability to teach and
share experiences with the teams and leadership through effective
communication Team player who knows how to lead, follow and
sometimes just listen. Must be capable of working independently
with little supervision. Required Education and Experience Four
year Engineering Degree (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial
preferred) Minimum of 5-10 years job experience in CMM programming
using PC-Dmis (Primary) / Modus Software Strong computer skills -
Minitab and Excel experience a plus Advanced knowledge of metrology
instruments and methods: height stands, calipers, micrometers,
comparators, etc. - Surface Plate to CMM capability. Strong
understanding of Geometric Dimensional Tolerance Control and Blue
Prints Strong knowledge of CAD modeling Significant Experience in
Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Education and Experience ASQ
Certification a plus - Layout / CQE / etc. 5+ years of CNC / metal
removal manufacturing and quality inspection background 7-10yrs.
